One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. (Ps. 27:4 - ESV)
This is my life verse, I come back to it often. When I am going through hard times and forget who I am, this verse always has a way of grounding me.
This verse, to me, embodies the passionate romance that God has called us into. It's the cry of a heart that has encountered the goodness of His love and the passion of His heart towards us as an individual. It's been made personal.
It is the primary longing of the human heart; to be completely consumed by love. I believe this verse shows us why God called David, "a man after his own heart."
There was only ONE THING on David's agenda, God.
My personal manifesto:
As did David in the bible, I have decided long ago and I renew it yet again today, that I will be a man of ONE THING. Only HE can be my all in all, only HE is worthy of all my worship and adoration. Only HE meets my every need. Only HE is ALL glorious, ALL beautiful, chief among ten thousand, HE is. I am forever undone by His glorious love and will abandon myself to Him forever.
This IS who I am and who I will be forever; the one whom He loves and the one who loves Him back.
