Joy and Strength

The joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh 8:10)

Ever wonder what this verse really means or looks like practically? I have! I have always loved this verse but have never completely understood it. Yet I have always had a feeling that there is something really powerful and profound about it as well. Lately, I believe the Lord has been unpacking the epic verse to me in a new way. I am starting to see that it is God's joy over me that is my strength. When I see and experience the Lord's joy and delight over me, I am strengthened. There is something so powerful about someone enjoying you. When you actually feel enjoyed and celebrated it causes you to feel validated, valued, accepted, and loved as the unique person that you are. My grandpa was one person that did this for me that has forever left a mark on me. He always tells stories about us when I was young and how much he enjoyed spending time with me. He always makes me feel like I am special to him by the way he speaks about me to others. Its really an amazing feeling to be bragged on by someone close to you that really knows you! If you don't have someone like that in your life, then look up! The shinning face of Jesus is looking down on you right now with a huge smile on his face! Receive the enjoyment of a Father that is proud of you and who is bragging on you right now!

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. (Zeph 3:17)

One thing I do have to say is that it really does require faith to enter in to this reality and actually experience the feeling of His enjoyment in our emotions. We do have to take verses like this and ask Holy Spirit to make it alive to us. If you don't feel His enjoyment of you just ask for help. He is so excited to show you how much He really likes you!

Thank you Jesus, that for the joy set before you, you endured the cross! Thank you that you enjoy me and love being with me! Praise God!
